A Day to Embrace the Woo Woo
Finding some unexpected alignment in orbit.
I’ve never been a spiritual person.
I did grow up in a Jewish household, begrudgingly attending Hebrew school so I could have a bat mitzvah party (it was lit1). But, beyond religion I was never into the “woo woo” of it all - astrology, signs, fate… leap years.
Over the past few years I've dabbled more and more with the “woo woo2”. That's what hitting a rock bottom will do to you (more on that another time).
Now, I'm well versed in Eckhart Tolle and Rumi and I practice grounding exercises and go to somatic therapy. I believe in letting your body guide the way - because it keeps the score ;) - and seeing where my energy flows so I can mentally and physically feel better. Some days I’m better at it than others.
2020 would have scoffed at 2024 me.
That's ok.
She wasn’t ready.
Today, February 29th, 2024 has been a good day.
Why?
Well I’m checking all my “must haves” for a good day:
Movement - I’m trialing a new gym in my neighborhood and considering joining. Endorphins and physical activity are so important for my MENTAL well being.
Elements - I spent a significant amount of time outside today and, despite the frigid temperature, felt so replenished to get direct sunlight on my face.
IRL Connection - I met a bunch of strangers today - at the gym, at the park, with my dog - and have dinner with a friend tonight. I’m a confused introvert.
Creativity - I carved out 20 minutes of my day to write this all down. Heads down creative time fills me up in ways I can’t explain.
After a draining few weeks .. ok months.. I felt a lightness today I couldn’t ignore.
And then I saw it was leap day. (As you may have guessed, I’ve never paid attention to leap days in the past). A quick google search reminded me about what it meant…
And the “woo woo” side of me said…
Hmm. That’s interesting. And thought, what a gift this extra day has been. A gift of alignment.
Needless to say, I hope you’re having a good leap day too.
We had Dairy Queen blizzards on the dessert table in case you’re questioning this fact.
I use this slang term to describe the mystical, supernatural, spiritual, etc.
Love the idea of realignment! Esp after 4 crazy years since COVID. Much needed!
